What Home Means

Homeownership

Home is a place to call your own, raise a family, and hang out with friends. It's where you build lasting memories and become part of strong neighborhoods and communities.

Making home possible is a mission that matters and it's one of the ways Freddie Mac continues to move housing forward.

We've helped make home possible more than 1.3 million times over the last year – and nearly 70 million times since we were founded in 1970. How? We provide a constant stream of mortgage funding to banks and other lenders. In turn, they use this funding to provide individual mortgage loans to people in their communities who are buying or refinancing a home.

In honor of National Homeownership Month and our important mission we asked, "What does home mean to you?" See what people from across the nation said.

"Home means memories and milestones, and is a sanctuary from the outside world." Kaelynne & Aydenn – Poulsbo, WA
