Helping Families Stay in Their Homes

We often provide education about the homebuying journey – but helping borrowers stay in their homes is just as important. That's why we're reimagining the mortgage experience to help keep homeowners in their homes through simpler policies and programs.

Here are just a few of the programs we have in place to address borrowers' needs and strengthen sustainable homeownership.

  • Mortgage assistance for those impacted by natural disasters: If Freddie Mac owns your mortgage and you live, or are employed, in a FEMA–declared disaster area with individual assistance available, you may be eligible for relief options such as suspending mortgage payments or a mortgage modification.
  • Our Duty to Serve partnership with NextJob, a national reemployment solutions company: With NextJob, financially distressed homeowners in high-needs areas with Home Possible® or Home Possible Advantage® mortgages will have access to comprehensive re-employment services, such as: one-on-one job coaching sessions, job counseling webinars, and online job search training tools. This program aims to help eligible borrowers address their employment challenges and prevent potential mortgage loan delinquencies and defaults.
  • Ongoing financial education for consumers: My Home by Freddie Mac® provides information to help you make informed decisions and support your success as a homeowner. From helping you understand financial obligations, to education about refinancing and avoiding foreclosure, MyHome is a wonderful resource to guide you through the complexities of buying and owning a home.
