Did You Know that 14 percent of recent homebuyers purchased a home to accommodate growing households as their adult children, siblings or aging parents move in? According to the National Association of Realtors®, one third of multi-generational households were bought to look after and spend more time with aging parents. Another quarter was purchased because children over the age of 18 were moving back home and for cost savings. We couldn’t find any research supporting whether free laundry and home cooked meals played into these moves... however, we’re pretty sure it had more to do with the job market.
