Honoring Our Veterans

Honoring Our Veterans
Freddie Mac volunteers with homeowner Lucinda Callahan (center). Volunteers made safety modifications – rebuilding the front deck and stairs – to the Arlington, Va., home of Callahan, a veteran's widow who was injured in an accident.

This Veterans Day, in communities across America, we pay special tribute to veterans and their families. Freddie Mac Home Team volunteers recently helped repair homes for veterans' widows and made care kits for a D.C. veterans service center.

Our Home Team volunteer program partnered with Rebuilding Together to rehabilitate the homes of two veteran families in Northern Virginia. Volunteers also put together 500 care kits for veterans living in a transitional housing center in Washington, D.C. The Southeast Veterans Service Center provides housing, meals and services to 100 veterans at any given time.

We also continue to collect frequent flier mile donations for Luke's Wings. The not-for-profit buys plane tickets with the donated miles to help families of injured service members visit their loved ones during hospitalization and rehabilitation.

Freddie Mac continues to help veterans during the year through our mortgage relief programs and the V.E.T.S. partnership to hire veterans in our IT department.
