Freddie Mac Multifamily reached a milestone, having shifted $100 billion of credit risk away from taxpayers – to private investors – through the K-Deal securitization program. This is one way we're living the future of multifamily rental housing finance today.
The program, which began in June 2009, enables Freddie Mac Multifamily to deliver these benefits:
- Promote the flow of money into the market.
- Increase access to credit for qualified apartment property developers and owners.
- Shrink the government’s footprint in the housing market and taxpayers' risk exposure.
- Support rental housing affordability nationwide.
It also serves as a platform for our continued growth and innovation.
