Did you know that Freddie Mac was created when the Emergency Home Finance Act of 1970 was signed into law on July 24th? In celebration of our 45th birthday, we wanted to share some fun and interesting facts about us.

Did you know that Freddie Mac is not our official name? Freddie Mac's official name is the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, a title given by Congress, but we adopted Freddie Mac as an easier "doing business as" name. Freddie Mac is registered and it is now the most commonly used name for the company.

Did you know Freddie Mac introduced the first automated underwriting service for residential mortgages - Freddie Mac's Loan Prospector® (LP) – in 1995.

Did you know we financed the largest apartment community on the west coast, Park La Brea in Los Angeles, which is home to about 10,000 people.

Did you know we've been tracking mortgage interest rates since 1971? Today our Primary Mortgage Market Survey is the industry standard.

Did you know we revolutionized the way apartments are financed with the introduction of our award-winning credit risk sharing K-Deal commercial mortgage-backed security structure in 2009?
