Today ends Military Appreciation Month, but past and present Service members have Freddie Mac's support all year.
Our appreciation is on proud display when we greet veterans arriving on Honor Flights to visit military memorials in the nation's capital to honor and remember fallen comrades. As Will Rogers once said: "We can't all be heroes. Some of us have to stand on the curb and clap as they walk by." We also remember with gratitude those who lost their lives defending ours.
Through events coordinated by the Military Service Employee Resource Group, our volunteers will welcome around 300 World War II and Korean War veterans this year at Washington, D.C.-area airports.
Among many other important ways we support Service members and veterans:
- Service members with Freddie Mac-owned mortgages who face financial difficulty may take advantage of special mortgage relief options.
- Veterans, among other special groups, may benefit from our partnership with Easter Seals and its service network, which informs and empowers them to better manage their finances and find housing options in their communities.
- Military Financial Readiness, developed with the Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals and based on our CreditSmart® financial-literacy curriculum, educates Service members and veterans on building savings, credit, and the financial know-how to own a home.
- The transition to civilian life gets a boost through our Vocation, Education, and Training for Service members (V.E.T.S.) hiring program, delivered in partnership with Sharp Decisions.
For all they do, for all they've done, we thank U.S. Service members and their families.
