How Much is Affordability a Factor?

If you're currently renting your home, townhouse or apartment, chances are you're pretty happy with your housing situation. New research by Freddie Mac Multifamily reveals that a significant and growing majority of renters — 66% — are satisfied with the overall rental experience, up from 60 percent last summer. The survey also shows that 50%  of Baby Boomers currently renting do not anticipate buying a home in the future and 31% of Generations Xers feel the same.

That satisfaction and willingness to continue renting in the future is mostly dominated by one thing: affordability. A significant majority, 64%, of renters cite price as the most important factor when considering their next home, a theme consistent across all generational cohorts.

If you're renting right now, how much does cost factor into your decision to stay... or go? For more highlights of our "Profile of Today's Renter," check out the infographic below.
