For some, well-being means attending Pilates classes twice a week; for others, it's maintaining a plant-based diet. Whatever your definition of well-being is, Freddie Mac's Wellness Works program provides something to help you achieve and maintain it.
Offering an on-site fitness center, a wellness center and an array of healthy dining options, Freddie Mac's wellness program is a standout offering — one that employees are proud of.
"We want to help employees live their best lives, physically, financially and emotionally, at work and at home, at every stage of life," said Dan Scheinkman, VP of compensation, benefits and well-being. "We've done a ton of work to build a well-rounded, comprehensive wellness program that gives employees access to what they need when they need it."
The hub of employee wellness at Freddie Mac is the on-site Wellness Center. It boasts a modern, serene atmosphere complete with a waiting area and several treatment rooms.
Employees can take advantage of a wide range of services, including physical exams, allergy injections and flu shots, blood pressure and other screenings, hearing and vision tests, lab testing and more. New to the center this year are several extended offerings, including chiropractic and acupuncture services.
"Offering nontraditional services is an important part of making sure employees are supported with what they need to maintain their lifestyle. The acupuncture and chiropractic services are just another avenue for employees to achieve holistic wellness," said Mary Ann Pence, senior director of benefits, well-being and recognition.
Whether you're an avid cycler, occasional runner or a novice weight lifter, the Freddie Mac Fitness Center has what you need, including cardio and strength training equipment, amenity-filled locker rooms, and in-person and virtual exercise classes.
"The Fitness Center is an awesome benefit, and having it on-site is so convenient. The HIIT and spin classes are my favorite," said Christine Szczyrba, senior web content developer.
Giving people the ability to get outdoors and participate in the activities they love is crucial to supporting well-being. A multipurpose sport court sits next to several walking trails, both providing tranquil spaces for taking a break. Robyn Johnson, business management director, walks the trails daily to maintain her wellness goals.
"Freddie Mac's focus on wellness is a big part of my work morale. Having access to the trails helps me reach my daily steps goal quickly without taking too much time away from my desk. At Freddie, I have zero excuses for getting my steps in," Robyn said.
After visiting the on-site dietitian for strategies on developing healthy eating habits, you can swing by the cafeterias and take advantage of their unique offerings, ranging from cold-pressed juices and smoothies to worldly dishes such as dal tadka and chicken souvlaki.
At Freddie Mac, we're home to more — more options, more support and more wellness. Check out our other benefits, then apply to join our team.
