  • Why I Love Freddie Mac
The people here are phenomenal. Everyone that I have met is kind, good natured and thoughtful. They’re willing to help you out if you need assistance.

"This is my quintessential fit between economics, government regulation, real estate, housing and community impact," said the self-described "housing nerd."

Working for Freddie Mac's Multifamily Targeted Affordable Housing production team, Chris is a part of the front-line, client-interfacing team for financing loans in underserved areas that are affordable to families with low and very-low incomes.

"It feels great to work for a company that makes a strong community impact," said Chris, who interned with the company in 2012 and returned in 2015 for a full-time position.

As an Economics major with a minor in Music at the University of Michigan, Chris is used to balancing both professional with recreational pursuits.

"I like to think that I remained active on both the left and right sides of my brain," he said of his college experience.

And while his singing career has since been relegated to the shower or karaoke bars, his interest in economics has only grown, from housing reform and housing policy, to studying the Great Recession.

Aside from his work in affordable housing, joining Freddie Mac has also opened up an opportunity for Chris to work with issues close to his heart. As an LGBTQ advocate, it didn't take long for him to join Freddie Mac's Pride employee resource group.

"I jumped in both feet first. It's a way to leverage [my advocacy] while working at the company and to make an impact in that space," he said. "I feel very lucky to be in the spot where I am."
