Noted AEI Fellow James K. Glassman Asks "Why Change a System That's Working?"

In his Scripps Howard syndicated column, James K. Glassman says that the government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) system has worked well, “creating a robust, liquid market that lets families take out a 30-year mortgage at about a point above Treasury interest, with a low down payment and an option to refinance if rates drop.” He argues that while improved regulation is needed, we should not otherwise tamper with a proven success.

Glassman’s column appeared nationwide in the following newspapers: Sacramento Bee, Fresno Bee, Naples Daily News, Casper Star Tribune, Anchorage Daily News, Bakersfield Californian, Hilton Head Island Packet, Knoxville News-Sentinel, Tacoma News Tribune, Mid-Columbia Tri-City Herald, and others.
