Op-Ed by Former HUD Sec. Kemp Responds to GSE Reform Legislation, Supports Freddie Mac

In an article titled "Homeownership Support Needed [PDF 37K]" by Jack Kemp published in The Washington Times on October 27, 2005, the author discusses Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae’s important role in providing liquidity and stability to the housing market and in the economy and responds to GSE reform legislation. Kemp is a former secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President George H.W. Bush. "It would be a grave mistake to fundamentally restructure a housing finance system that today is helping drive the nation's economic growth," he writes.
