Volunteers Reach Out to Foster Youth in College
Through a partnership with the Orphan Foundation, dozens of Freddie Mac volunteers assembled care packages for foster youth, who face the challenges of college and becoming an adult without the support and care of a permanent family.
An Ohio student in the Orphan Foundation program sent this thank you note:
“I got my Package today!!!! I am so excited. It means a lot to me that you all really care enough to send me a package. I thank you very very much. Please tell the rest of OFA staff and Fairfax I said thank you so much for all the kindness they have shown me. This package has made my day better and the stresses of college seem less important.”
Foster care and adoption is one of the key focus areas for the Freddie Mac Foundation. Freddie Mac employee volunteers, our Home Team, add to our community investments: each year some 1400 employees take part in more than 200 company-sponsored events, building homes with Habitat for Humanity, tutoring students at J.C. Nalle Elementary School in Washington, D.C., and preparing meals for local shelters, among other activities.
