HVE® defines hit rate as the ratio of returned model results divided by addresses submitted by the user (gross hit rate). This is the most conservative approach to defining hit rate since address errors and other submission errors dilute the ratio. Gross hit rate shows the performance that the lender can expect in actual use. The AVM vendors use many hit rates for their products, but gross hit rate is a conservative, and better, representation of what a user will experience in production. The national average hit rate for HVE is approximately 80 percent, which is one of the highest in the industry.
