Richard Katzenstein Joins Freddie Mac Multifamily as Managing Regional Director, Northeast Region

January 7, 2013

Senior Vice President of Multifamily Production, Sales & Marketing
John Cannon

Today, I am very pleased to announce that Richard Katzenstein has joined Freddie Mac Multifamily, and will lead the Northeast Region as its Managing Regional Director.

Richard brings nearly 30 years of commercial real estate experience to his new role. He joins us from Tannery Brook Partners, where as Managing Director, he established an origination network in the Northeast, helped create an origination strategy for their business and originated senior and subordinate debt for both multifamily and commercial properties.

Prior to his leadership role at Tannery Brook Partners, Richard held key management positions at several real estate finance firms, including Vector Debt Solutions, MMA Realty Capital L.L.C. and MONY Realty Capital, Inc.  Richard brings proven industry experience and understands both the financing needs of our borrowers and the lending needs of our Seller/Servicers.  He holds a B.S. in Marketing from SUNY Albany and an M.B.A. in finance from Long Island University.

A key strength of Freddie Mac Multifamily is the depth of our local market expertise. In hiring Richard, I recognized how effective his relationships with our business partners and market knowledge of the Northeast Region will make him in his new role with Freddie Mac.  Richard will lead a team that has already built strong customer relationships, and I know he is prepared to hit the ground running to help meet your needs in today’s high volume market.

Last year, I joined Freddie Mac Multifamily to be a part of a company that is succeeding as a market leader today, and preparing for a future that builds on that success. Richard is an example of a talented industry veteran who sees the opportunity that Freddie Mac Multifamily offers, and as a company, we’ve been pleased to have other new staff like Richard join us over the last year. Of course, a key part of the opportunity at Freddie Mac is to work hand-in-hand every day meeting the needs of our customers like you.

With this transition, I want to also thank Tom Hamill, who has returned to managing Debby Jenkins’s Underwriting team here in the Northeast Region. Richard and Tom together bring a high level of combined bench strength to our Production and Underwriting teams in our Northeast Region, and I am very pleased both for the Region and for our Multifamily Seller/Servicers.

Please join me in welcoming Richard Katzenstein to Freddie Mac and to our Program Plus® Network.

John Cannon,

Senior Vice President, Multifamily Production, Sales & Marketing
