This is the second in a series of articles.

As Transaction Manager for Freddie Mac Multifamily’s Western Region, Cory Jurasits’s main responsibility is to ensure superior service for customers and staff every day and in any way. His main goal is to improve the speed and transparency of deals for our Sellers. He works closely with our other two Transaction Managers — Lauren Whited for the Northeast and Southeast Regions and Kirstin Cook for the Central Region — to ensure consistency across the country.

“There’s no typical day for me,” says Cory. “Each day I face unique tasks and challenges. Externally, I often get calls from originators who need a quick answer on a deal or simply need an update. Internally, I may have a Borrower’s data set to analyze or critical pipeline data to report. My biggest endeavor is providing quick responses to improve transaction speed as much as possible.”

The most rewarding part of Cory’s job is being able to quickly solve an issue, regardless of which region the business is conducted. His good-natured personality works well for his role. He enjoys the crossover between knowing production and underwriting nuances, as well as internal and external procedures. “In short, we need to be generalists in many areas of the business with the ability to quickly dive deep into any one specific area at any given time.”

Cory knew he wanted to be in real estate since college where he took a class that piqued his interest. Following graduation from Virginia Tech, he started a job selling home equity loans, then later, when the market turned, he headed back to school to complete his Master’s Degree from Johns Hopkins University. Cory worked as a Realty Specialist for the US Army Corp of Engineers and then for a multifamily developer before joining Freddie Mac in 2012 as an Underwriter in the McLean, Virginia office.

“My grandfather, a Pearl Harbor survivor, provided inspiration throughout my life, encouraging me to take chances. He was the epitome of the ‘hard-working man’ and quintessential family man. His focus in life was to do well for his family, both in his career and at home.” Two years and a few promotions later, Cory followed his grandfather’s advice and took a risk by moving across the country to open the Denver satellite office for the Western Region. Today, he’s happy to be a problem solver and go-to resource for the customers and employees of Freddie Mac.
