Designated Counsel Program Expanded to Two States and New Firms Added to Three Existing States

Freddie Mac is announcing the expansion of our Designated Counsel Program to Kentucky and Minnesota, and the addition of firms to the Program in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.

On or after September 1, 2011, Servicers may refer new foreclosures and bankruptcies to any of the designated counsel listed below.

As announced in Single-Family Seller/Servicer Guide (Guide) Bulletin 2011-16, we are requiring Servicers to use the Kentucky and Minnesota designated counsel for new foreclosure and bankruptcy referrals initiated on mortgages secured by 2- to 4-unit properties and manufactured homes in those states, effective October 1, 2011.

We regularly monitor the participants in our Designated Counsel Program and make adjustments to add or remove Program participants as necessary. It is important that you review Guide Exhibit 79 periodically for the most current information about Program participants.
