HARP Extended by Another Two Years to December 2015
April 12, 2013
In a press release yesterday, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) directed Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae to extend the Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP) by two years to December 31, 2015. The program was set to expire for mortgages with Application Received Dates on or before December 31, 2013.
We will be publishing a Single-Family Seller/Servicer Guide (Guide) Bulletin in the future to reflect this revised sunset date for our Freddie Mac Relief Refinance MortgagesSM.
With HARP's extension, we will continue to work with FHFA to help increase the visibility of the program so that more eligible borrowers may benefit from today's historically low interest rates.
One of the ways we are doing this is through our online HARP participating lender list. If you originate and deliver Relief Refinance Mortgages, but are not yet part of this online list, we invite you to sign up to be part of this listing.
This online listing displays the contact information of lenders that offer Relief Refinance Mortgages – Same Servicer and Relief Refinance Mortgages – Open Access. This resource will provide you with an additional channel to reach HARP-eligible borrowers, regardless of whether you service their loans or not. Our website tracking studies indicate that our HARP participating lender list is a very popular destination on FreddieMac.com.
We also encourage you to become familiar with the flexibilities and requirements of our Relief Refinance Mortgage offering by taking advantage of the following resources:
