John Glessner
Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer
John Glessner is executive vice president and chief risk officer at Freddie Mac. He leads the Enterprise Risk Division, which supports Freddie Mac’s mission of making home possible.
Glessner is a member of Freddie Mac’s Senior Operating Committee (SOC) and brings more than 25 years of experience with the company. Throughout his tenure, he has held a variety of leadership positions, including executive vice president and head of the Investments and Capital Markets Division and treasurer, where he oversaw corporate treasury operations, liquidity management and interest rate hedging. Earlier in his career at Freddie Mac, he held roles in Securities Sales & Trading and worked on the Collateralized Mortgage Obligation (CMO) and Cash Window desks.
Before returning to Freddie Mac in 2010, Glessner held trading positions with Friedman, Billings, Ramsey Group, Inc. and GMAC ResCap, Inc.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Virginia.
